I am so sorry to learn that Georg has passed away. We became friends through the Navy League and enjoyed several dinners and parties together over the years. My son was a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy and was an aviator during the Iraq war so we often had discussions about his flying during the Korean war. George was so kind and warm and thoughtful and always the perfect gentleman. For several years he sent me flowers in a Kincaid house or church as a Christmas present. I have a collection of them that I display every year. This year at Christmas I will remember him with great sadness because we were unable to talk to each other last spring. I was in the hospital for four months and tried to call him, but our cell phones would not let us talk to each other. I had hoped to call him when I went home, but I went back to the hospital 5 more times and just recently called, only learn that I have lost a dear friend. I'm sure his family has taken great care of his many awards and pictures that he had on display in his home. He was vey proud of his service to our country and the awards he received. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you as I share your loss.
With God's Love,
Joleen Reynolds
Thank you for your phone call Kyle. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Your father did so many wonderful things and he was very thoughtful. I will always remember that he taught me to write my name in sandstone on our patio in Lisle, Illinois one year when your family was visiting. And to whittle a stick, when my own dad would not let me touch a jack knife. Our Navy pilot dads are flying high together now. Peace be with you. Give my love to your mom, Kevin and all the family
It was September of 1975 when I moved to Houston, working for Gulf Oil. I remember not knowing a sole, that is, until I met George. He took me under his wing and from that point on a friendship was born. He taught me so many things about business and life, things today that I still remember. A funny story comes to mind. We went flying one time and all I wanted to do was fly the plane. But I noticed before he gave me the controls that his head was turning like a tank turret from side to side. I asked what he was looking for, and he responded by asking if "I had ever seen a midair collison"? In wich I responded "no" he said if I had, I would be looking too.......At that point, I wasn't feeling much like flying anymore. He left his mark, even to this day, from when I take off to when I land, I'm always looking.
There will never be another George.......
Kevin and Kyle I share in your loss,
Brad McKenzie
Worked with George in Houston in the early 80s. I was lucky to have met a couple of people who had a big impact on my life.and George was one of them.
He taught me a lot about making and keeping good business relations, a good deal about business ethics and even how to shoot a shotgun. I have good memories of him as I'm sure all of his collegues in the oil business do. My sympathy to his family.
George was my neighbor on Green Lawn and a very kind, friendly and generous person. I was honored to know him and respected him for his service in the Navy. He was extremely proud of that. GOD BLESS YOU GEORGE.
Uncle George was a quiet man, but get his attention and he paid all of his attention to you. We three girls would always try to get him to laugh, and usually succeeded. He took me to Moody Gardens the last time we were there in 2009, and we listened to Ray Price and Charley Pride. He had a good ear for music. That one on one day I will never forget. I will miss "Unkey" George very much. What a tribute to your father, boys, with the memory albums.
Dear Kevin and Kyle,
I am proud to have called him my brother. I miss our every day talks about past, present and future. I often hear a bit of news and must be sure to tell him when we talk. I see these pictures and remember some of them as if they were taken yesterday. We were so proud of him when he got his picture in the paper with the quad lambs. He received letters from people who had seen the picture and wrote to him commenting on the quads. That picture went around the world. What a superb way of honoring him with the albums of memory. What a wonderful trip down memory lane.
Dear Kyle and Kevin:
You have done an excellent job in finishing the obituary for your father George by adding the family information and his work history. Also you have done an excellent job in preparing this website for all to see his full obituary and all of the pictures covering all phases of his life including family, Navy and work. Everyone in the Navy, Navy League and Naval Order who knew him thought very highly of George because of his warm and friendly nature. We will all miss him a great deal.
Yours very truly, Carter B. Conlin
